The Arizona Governor’s
Council on Spinal and Head Injuries is a state
agency that works to enhance the health, safety,
and quality of life for children and adults
with spinal cord and brain injuries and their
families.
The Governor of Arizona appoints Council members.
They include:
• people with spinal cord and brain injuries
• family members of people with spinal cord and
brain injuries
• physicians and other health professionals who
work with individuals with spinal cord
and brain injuries
• representatives of the general public; and
• representatives from the Arizona
Department of Economic Security and the Arizona Department
of Health Services.
The Council strategically
utilizes its resources
to ensure their efficient and coordinated use
in providing services for people with spinal
cord and head injuries and their families.
To accomplish its mission, the Council:
• provides information, education, programs and
services for people with spinal cord and
head injuries and their families,
• serves as a resource for information about
spinal and head injuries, referral procedures
and demographics,
• advise Arizona state agencies regarding spinal
cord and head injury matters and the needs
of people with spinal and head injuries,
and
• coordinates activities and programs about preventing
spinal and head injuries and the subsequent
conditions of these injuries.
